Community Plots

Thanks to funding from Southwark Council’s Cleaner Greener Safer grant scheme in 2016/17 the Farm created fifteen raised beds for the local community to use for food growing.

Redevelopment work was carried out during summer 2016 with the help of several corporate volunteer groups from Northern Trust, Morgan Stanley, Old Mutual, CLS Group, AOL and Barclays as well as volunteer runners from the GoodGym. The volunteers cleared an area of the Farm, levelled the ground, constructed the raised beds and filled them with well-rotted manure and some top soil.

During February 2017 the path that runs alongside the new beds was taken up and replaced with a wider concrete path to improve accessibility and allow wheelchair users, buggies and wheelbarrows a wide level path that completes a new circuit around our fields. Thanks to Ardmore who funded the path and to apprentices from Southwark Construction Skills Centre who prepped the area and levelled the concrete.

The raised beds in our community growing area are available to those living in the local Surrey Docks ward. Please be aware, our waiting list is now full and we are unfortunately unable to take any new applications at present.
