Forest School at the Farm (4-7 year olds)
We are delighted to offer a new Forest School group for home-educated children aged 4-7 years old!
Taking place in the Wildlife Garden at Surrey Docks Farm, children will connect with nature through the Forest School ethos of child-led and play approach. Children will use tools, make shelters, build and light a fire and cook on a fire, make arts and crafts with natural materials and explore the wildlife, plants and trees on site. Children will also have hands on experiences with the farm animals.
The sessions are led by Jo, a qualified Forest School Leader who holds an Outdoor Forest School with Paediatric First Aid certificate and enhanced DBS check. Jo is a Youth Worker, working with the Saturday Young Farmers and is passionate about offering Forest School sessions for all.
Children aged 4-7 years old attend the sessions unaccompanied by a parent or carer (exceptions can be made, please get in touch with Jo to discuss). A break time snack and drink are provided.
We’re delivering an initial three week project that will welcome up to six children, with sessions starting Friday 13 May, 2pm until 4pm in the Wildlife Garden at Surrey Docks Farm. Sessions will then continue every Friday morning for the three week block (May 13th, 20th and 27th).
The total cost of the 3 week sessions is £30 per child. Booking and payment in advance is essential.
Please note that bookings are non-refundable; if your child is ill or unable to attend on the day we won’t be able to offer any refunds or discounts. However, if the whole session has to be cancelled due to a Farm issue (e.g. staff illness or Covid-19 restrictions coming back into force) we would firstly look to rearrange the session and if that wasn’t possible we would refund. Please also note that once booked, your child’s place is not transferable.
In order to book your child’s place please complete the below fields so we no longer have to email you with parent/guardian consent forms.
The information collected enables us to provide a safe and accessible programme, by making any necessary adjustments for the individual children attending each session. After the session, this data enables us to record children’s participation in Farm activities and help improve our offer. We might use the data you provide to contribute to our Youth Programme monitoring, but if we do your child’s information will never be identifiable and will be made anonymous if shared with any third parties (e.g. grant funders). We store this data securely in password-protected files. If you wish to retract your permission for us to store this, please email the Farm Manager: email@example.com.
