Green Hub
Surrey Docks Farm is committed to promoting green and sustainable energy alternatives.
We harvest rainwater to water our polytunnels, we have a green roof on one of our buildings and our solar panels are generating clean electricity for the Farm to use.
We make compost from our green waste and have been working in partnership with University College London (UCL) for 3 years on our biodigester project designed to turn our animal waste into gas & liquid fertiliser. The biodigester gas boils water to make our tea and the liquid is used as an activator for our muck heaps. Our partnership was recognised with the UCL Provost’s Award for Public Engagement.
This year, thanks to funding from Southwark Council’s ‘Cleaner Greener Safer’ grant scheme we’re creating a new Sustainability Trail for our visitors to view, interact with and learn more about these features. Keep an eye on our website, as we’ll add more information here as we develop this project.

Financially supported by Southwark Council’s Cleaner Greener Safer grant programme.
