This workshop will teach you how to knit your own scarf, and give you the skills to make an endless supply of scarves. Perfect for Christmas, holidays, birthdays and everything inbetween.

Attendees will:

Learn…How to cast on.
How to do the knit stitch.
How to do the purl stitch.
How to do the stocking stitch.
How to do a rib stitch.
How to cast off.

Practice…Making a scarf

Consider… Needle shapes and sizes
Wool types and thickness
Techniques such as knitting in the round / increasing / decreasing
Charity knitting

Take home…Their practice squares
Their started scarf

You will also get to take away your own knitting kit. Sitting through endless delays on the tube will be a thing of the past!


The kit will include:
A pair of Pony Plastic Knitting Needles
A Hemline Plastic Yarn Needle
2 balls of 100g wool mix
Sunday 3rd August – 10am-3pm

Following this workshop we will be launching a free fortnightly drop-in knitting session for any interested knitters! The group will be called ‘Knit and Knatter’ and you are welcome to bring your scarves along to finish off. One of our volunteers will be on hand to help if you get stuck with any stitches. The first Knit and Knatter session will run on Sunday 17th August from 2:30pm-4:30pm. Location to be confirmed nearer the time.
