Farm Spring Fair, 2024

We held our annual Spring Fair on Saturday 11th May and loved welcoming thousands of people to the Farm on a beautiful sunny day!

Visitors were able to watch sheep shearing demonstrations and meet the animals up close. Our training project participants sold their farm-grown plants and jams made from our fruits. We served pizzas topped with our delicious tomato sauce (featuring farm grown onion and garlic) and cooked in the wood oven. The Young Farmers set up a fair games area with butternut squash skittles, wheelbarrow races and more, as well as offering a range of natural crafts; whilst the Greenagers served their elderflower cordial and herbal teas alongside the bar.

Huge thanks to all who visited and created the wonderful community atmosphere. We raised an incredible £7,000 which will go directly to our running costs, helping ensure the Farm stays open every day to provide education, support, and a little slice of the countryside for Londoners.

Thanks to Tom from Mudchute City Farm who sheared our thirteen sheep and gave a fantastic talk about why we do this, how it benefits the sheep and promoted the importance of city farms. We’ll be sending the fleeces, along with a few other city farms, to the Yorkshire wool mills to make into a London City Farm Yarn. Find out more about this project here!

Entertainment was provided by the Greenwich Morris Men, London Sea Shanty Collective and one of our volunteers Kristen who performed acoustic songs with her friend Shani.  Plus the amazing Musical Mayhem who offered lots of children and young people the chance to perform! Huge thanks to all our performers!

Thanks to our partners at Vacherin for their support with the BBQ. Two of the Vacherin team volunteered their help cooking and they connected us with Block & Cleaver who generously donated the delicious sausages and burgers.

Thanks to Neckstamper brewery who loaned us a lindr machine to cool the delicious kegs of their ‘Little Mizzle’ beer which we served on the bar. Thanks also to ‘Richard The First’ pub in Greenwich who donated ice and cups!

Thanks to all who donated prizes for our raffle, including Bodytonic, Musical Mayhem, The Barn cafe and several of our volunteers!

Finally a massive shout out to all our awesome staff, volunteers and project participants. Thank you for giving up your Saturday for the Farm!

We are so lucky to have such a dedicated team and this is what makes the Farm such a success and wonderful place for all to enjoy! We look forward to celebrating at a well-deserved summer party with you in June.
