Surrey Docks Farm aims to engage the whole community to learn more about farming and food production. We are a working city farm growing and selling a range of fruit and vegetables, as well as eggs and meat reared on the Farm.
We have a small staff team and mainly rely on the support of volunteers to run the Farm. Full details about our volunteering roles can be found here.
We are currently recruiting for a new Youth Assistant to join our Youth team.
Saturday Youth Assistant
This role will assist with the planning, preparation, monitoring and delivery of our successful Youth Club for local 8-14 year olds on Saturdays. The ideal candidate will be passionate about outdoor learning and environmental education and demonstrate a commitment to supporting young people through their work. This role will help Surrey Docks Farm deliver its informal youth offer, improving quality engagement with local young people.
We are looking for an individual passionate about effective youth work who can contribute to the overall aims of the programme to encourage, guide and support young people in animal care tasks, organic food growing, environmental conservation, creative arts, field trips, agricultural shows, social action projects and healthy cooking activities.
The Youth Assistant will be part of the Youth team, which comprises the Youth Manager, the Sunday Youth Assistant and a group of dedicated youth volunteers. The priority of the role is to centre the ideas, thoughts and opinions of young people to deliver a programme with young people at its heart.

Reports to: Youth Manager
Hours: Saturday 9am – 5pm (one hour lunch unpaid)
Salary: £10.75/hour (London Living Wage)
Annual leave: 6.5 days
