Staff Vacancies

Surrey Docks Farm aims to engage the whole community to learn more about farming and food production. We are a working city farm growing and selling a range of fruit and vegetables, as well as eggs and meat reared on the Farm.

We are excited to recruit for a new post at the Farm and our first Horticulture Apprentice, thanks to funding from the City Bridge Trust and London Borough of Southwark.

Overview

The Horticulture Apprentice will gain new skills and learn on the job, working alongside the Farm’s small but experienced horticulture team to grow food for our local community.

The Horticulture Apprentice will be supported to gain a Level 2 Diploma in Work Based Horticulture with the training provided by our partners at Walworth Garden. Due to Covid-19 where possible this training will take place online via Google Classroom, but some travel to Walworth Garden will still be required.

The role will involve independent working to carry out practical, hands on gardening tasks; as well as leading a volunteer group and assisting with our training projects for adult students with learning disabilities.

The apprentice will be paid London Living Wage during their full time one year contract. The post will include one weekend working day. We envisage the shift pattern running from Tuesday-Saturday, but there is some flexibility.
