Work Experience

Surrey Docks Farm offers work experience placements for students looking to gain practical animal care experience with the Livestock Team.

We offer short term farm work experience (students attend Monday-Friday for one or two weeks) and long term farm work experience (usually animal care/animal management college students who attend one or two days a week over several months). Both roles will be given a full farm induction, including health and safety procedures and are covered by the Farm’s insurance.

In line with our Safeguarding Policy and Procedures, students need to be aged 14+ for weekday placements and 18+ for weekend placements.

Please note, we are a small 2 acre farm in London and are not able to offer accommodation, travel or food expenses.

Short Term Placement

Please complete the enquiry form below with the dates you are interested in and the school/college you attend. We’ll then email you back to confirm availability and send further details.

Due to limited admin time we’re not able to hold a waiting list and don’t reserve weeks for schools or organisations, individuals must contact us directly.

Long Term Placement

If you’re looking for work experience for one set day per week, please apply as a Livestock Volunteer using the volunteer enquiry form and mention the college you attend. Do not fill in the below form as this is only for those requesting full weeks from Monday-Friday.
